All of our Shabbat Services are musical, participatory, joyous and family friendly. Most are led by Rabbi Katie Mizrahi and our Musical Director, David Cohen-Tzedek.
Mini Minyan: Tots and their families come together monthly to sing, listen to stories, and learn about Jewish basics. This gathering is currently scheduled on the 3rd Friday of each month at 6:30pm in the downstairs chapel. All families are invited to stay for our community vegetarian potluck dinner afterwards.
Friday Evening Services: Leave the workweek behind and welcome Shabbat with joy, music, reflection and community. We currently hold Friday evening services at 7pm on the 1st Friday of the month, and after the community potluck on the 3rd Friday of the month (usually around 8pm). The 3rd Friday service is particularly family-focused.
Community Shabbat Dinners: On the 3rd Friday of the month at 7pm, we welcome Shabbat together, lighting candles, singing blessings, and eating a vegetarian potluck meal. The meal is followed by a family-friendly service.
Saturday Morning Torah Study: Explore the ancient text in light of today’s values and events with Rabbi Katie Mizrahi at this lively text study and discussion session. Currently scheduled on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10am in the downstairs chapel and followed by a light kiddush.
Saturday Morning and Afternoon Services: Sing, reflect and encounter the wisdom of tradition in community. See our calendar or email our office admin@orshalom.org, for information about upcoming Saturday services.
Traveling Shabbat: Share a vegetarian potluck Shabbat dinner and service in the home of an Or Shalom member starting at 6pm on the second Friday of each month. Contact our office to sign up at admin@orshalom.org.
Musical Havdalah Jams: Each of these jam-packed gatherings includes a musical session with singing and instruments, a signature drink, munchies and loads of fun for adults and kids alike. Stay tuned for announcements about the next event!
Choir and Instrumental Group: Many of our services are enhanced by musical offerings from our choir and instrumental team. For more information about the choir please contact our Musical Director David Cohen Tzedek at music@orshalom.org.
